Maria Popescu graduated from Rhodes College in 2020 with a BS in Biology and a minor in Environmental Science.

She then pursued a Biology PhD at Baylor University but resigned when she realized the program was not a good fit for her. It was a difficult decision, but during that difficult time, while she was working from home, online, during covid, her love for art was rekindled.

Much of her art created during graduate school and the years after look simple and bright, but painting these images were her solace during a lonely time, when she was struggling to find beauty in solitude and a healthy relationship with herself.
